The leading Nordic furniture, design, and interior event, Habitare, is bringing a group of Finnish design and material companies to Milan Design Week from April 7–13, 2025. The Habitare Materials & Objects exhibition will be featured as part of Alcova, a showcase that has become a significant hit at Milan Design Week in recent years. Milan Design Week is the world’s premier annual gathering for the design industry.
The Habitare Materials & Objects exhibition will take place at Alcova from April 7–13, 2025. This export project unites Habitare, a selection of companies and emerging designers, to present Finnish expertise on the global stage.
Habitare Materials was first featured at Milan Design Week in Alcova in April 2023, with 14 partner companies participating. The installation-like material exhibition, designed to engage visitors, was a success—its hands-on concept stood out and left a lasting impression on the international design audience.

This year’s exhibition will include Arktis, Fiberwood, Durat, Hiil, KOIVUI®, KOTA Company, Metsä Fibre, Mölinä, Pihlgren ja Ritola, Suomen Käsityön Ystävät, and VM Carpet, along with designers Fanni Laukkanen and Roosa Ryhänen.
“Habitare Materials & Objects showcases domestic, ethically and ecologically sustainable design and material solutions. It is significant, especially in times of economic uncertainty, that Habitare provides companies with an opportunity to participate in a high-level international exhibition,” said Maria Klemetti Laine and Jussi Laine of NEMO Architects, who curate Habitare Materials and design the exhibition architecture.
Now in its fifth edition in Milan, Alcova has become one of the world’s most visited design events, attracting 90,000 visitors in 2024. It is a platform for experimental and innovative design, combining design companies, creators, and industry professionals worldwide. Alcova is known for its unique locations, often in abandoned or repurposed historical buildings and sites such as former factories, villas, or greenhouses.
