The four-year project, led by Chimar Hellas SA, Greece, brings together 15 industry leaders and research institutes from Greece, Spain, France, Finland, Germany, Turkey, and Norway to accelerate the transition from fossil-based adhesives to fully bio-based alternatives. This transition supports Fiberwood\u2019s vision of carbon-negative, plastic-free materials.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building on Fiberwood\u2019s Circular and Sustainable Approach&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For Fiberwood, participation in SUSPENSE is a natural extension of its commitment to sustainability. The company\u2019s insulation solutions already minimise environmental impact by using renewable wood fibres without synthetic resins or thermoplastics. By participating in SUSPENSE, Fiberwood can explore new adhesive solutions that further enhance the usage of wood side streams, the circular economy and reduce carbon footprints in the built environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur goal at Fiberwood is to achieve 100% bio-based products and processes. The next step in development is 100% wood-based products, meaning that both binders and additives in our products and processes are derived from wood. The SUSPENSE project plays a crucial role in this journey, helping us co-develop wood-based adhesive solutions that meet industrial performance standards while supporting our mission to boost fossil-free construction,\u201d says\u00a0<strong>Karita Kinnunen-Raudaskoski<\/strong>, Fiberwood\u2019s CTO.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unlocking Underutilised Plant-Based Feedstocks&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The SUSPENSE project focuses on developing adhesives from renewable feedstocks such as plant-based non-food proteins, bio-acids, and polyphenols and demonstrating their use in wood-based panels and insulation materials. These innovations will enable adhesives with up to 50% lower VOC emissions, improved environmental performance, and safer use for both manufacturers and end users.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Towards the Next Era of Sustainable Materials&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By participating in SUSPENSE, Fiberwood strengthens its role as an innovator in sustainable construction
