Plastic-Free Packaging Protectors and Cushions
We are developing new packaging materials from wood and natural fibres, offering an innovative, environmentally friendly, plastic-free and recyclable alternative to traditional packaging protectors and cushioning.
Replacing Styrofoam and bubble wrap in packaging requires that the bio-based material is genuinely biodegradable, affordable and can be produced in tonnes.
This is what we are aiming for.

From wood to packaging protector – and back to soil.
- Ecological: Wood is a renewable resource, and using it in packaging reduces plastic waste and dependence on non-renewable resources.
- Carbon store: Our wood fibre-based materials contain carbon sequestered by growing trees, so they act as a carbon store throughout their life cycle. This helps to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse emissions.
- Recyclable: The materials are recyclable and can be reused many times. This contributes to the circular economy and reduces waste.
- Biodegradability: Compostable packaging materials decompose in nature without leaving harmful residues. This helps reduce environmental impact.

Pilot Projects Underway
Several customer products and applications are currently under development in the construction insulation and packaging protection product groups. We expect to have products on the market commercially in about 1.5 to 2 years.
